Download files, respect the anonymity model, and guard confidentiality.
Access the manuscript (step by step)
Step 1 — Open the assignment
Sign in and open your reviewer dashboard. Each accepted assignment shows the manuscript title (anonymized per the review model), the due date, and a manuscript link.
Step 2 — Download the manuscript
- Click the assignment to open its detail view.
- Download the manuscript file (and any supplementary files) using the provided button — never ask authors for files directly.
- Confirm the file opens completely; report truncated or corrupt files to the office at once.
Step 3 — Respect the anonymity model
- Double-blind: author names, affiliations and self-identifying citations are removed. Do not try to identify the authors, and do not search for the manuscript online.
- Single-blind: you may know the authors; they do not know you. Never contact authors directly — all communication goes through the editor.
- Open review: identities are shared according to the journal's stated policy; the same confidentiality duties apply until publication.
Step 4 — Guard confidentiality
The manuscript is unpublished intellectual property. Do not share, forward, cite, present, or use its ideas in your own work. Delete working copies from personal devices once your review is submitted, keeping only what the journal's policy requires.
Troubleshooting
- Link expired or access denied? Invitations lapse after the deadline or reassignment — contact the office for a fresh link.
- Wrong file or wrong expertise? Tell the editor immediately so the manuscript can be reassigned without losing time.
